Your bill combines water, sewer and sanitation (trash, compost and recycling) on one bill. This reduces operating expenses and helps keep rates lower.

Your water and sewer bills consist of two parts:

Monthly Service Fee
This fee depends on the meter size. Typical homes will have a 3/4 inch meter. The fee covers administrative costs associated with providing water service to your home or business. This includes the cost of the meter, reading the water meter, processing payments, and printing and mailing bills.

Volume-Based Charges

Cheyenne uses a tiered rate system for water. The tiered system promotes using water wisely by charging more for higher consumptions. The volume-based charge covers the costs associated with delivering water to a home.

This includes collecting the water from mountain streams and wells, constructing and maintaining the transmission and distribution systems that deliver water to the water treatment plant and to homes, and preparing the water for drinking at the water treatment plant.
