Richard L. "Rick" Kaysen

Rick Kaysen has been the Mayor of Cheyenne since January 2009. Born in Denver, CO in 1946, Rick has been a Cheyenne resident since 1985. Cheyenne quickly became Rick’s "hometown" and he has devoted his time and skills in helping build a better community over the last twenty-five years.

In 2007, Rick completed a thirty-six year career in the electric and natural gas industries. He began his career as a meter reader in 1971, and held several positions before becoming the President and CEO of Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power in 2002. Customer service was a major focus in his career.

Rick is well known for his active service and leadership positions on many Cheyenne boards and committees. These include the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Foundation Board, Cheyenne LEADS Board, Laramie County Community College Foundation Board, Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Board, St. Mary’s Parish Council, Progress and Prosperity, Boy Scouts of America Fund Raiser Chairman, Cheyenne Symphony Board, and many more.

After graduating from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Rick served in the Viet Nam War as U.S. Infantry, K-9 Scout Dog Handler.

Rick and his wife, Diane, have four children and three grandchildren.
