In order to obtain a watering permit for new sod or seed, you must
Amend the soil prior to installing new sod or seed.
- Add a minimum of 3.5 cubic yards or compost or other acceptable organic material, see below, per 1,000 square feet of the area to receive sod or seed. This works out to be a little over an inch spread across the area.
- Disc or rototill the organic material into the soil to a depth of 6 inches.
- Organic material includes compost, aged manure, or peat moss but does not include fertilizer or polymers.
Bring the receipt for the organic material to 2100 Pioneer Avenue to obtain a watering permit.
